Volunteer in the Ronald McDonald Family Room at CNMC

When families walk in, we want them to forget they are in the hospital.

For almost 20 years, the Ronald McDonald Family Room® has been an oasis of calm in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the Hematology/Oncology unit at Children’s National Medical Center.

Only steps from their children, parents and other caregivers can briefly slip into another world, a place of quiet respite where they can have a snack or cup of coffee, check email, read, or just talk together and relax for a few minutes.

Amenities include a washer and dryer, a full-sized kitchen, a comfortable living room area, and several computer bays. Staff and regularly scheduled volunteers greet and assist families and provide support for Family Room based programming.
