Back-to-School Season at RMHCDC

RMHCDC FITNESS Program

Throughout the school year, we look forward to serving more families through our core programs.

Our Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles® are especially busy at this time, since many of our community partnerships are with local schools, letting us reach the children who need us most.  In 2017, our Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles, administered in partnership with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, served 4,574 patient visits. So many families in the greater Washington, DC area need our services throughout the school year – read on to learn how your support makes a difference.

Ronald McDonald Care Mobiles®

The KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic/Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® (KMMC/RMCM) is a “doctor’s office on wheels” improving access to quality health care where children need it most – in their community. We work in collaboration with MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Division of Community Pediatrics to administer the KMMC/RMCM. The free physicals and immunizations provided are critical for a successful school year. Learn more.RMCM-Opens-Doors

Our second Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® (RMCM) focused on the FITNESS (Fun In Teaching Nutrition and Exercise to Successful Students) Program starts back up once school is back in session. We work together with five local schools and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital’s Division of Community Pediatrics to deliver a curriculum focused on healthy eating and the importance of physical activity to students in grades K-8. The FITNESS Program piloted in Washington, DC during the 2017-18 school year, serves 2,227 students with health education initiatives. Learn more.

Additionally, RMHCDC has some exciting partnerships providing unique opportunities for the families we serve. Modell’s Sporting Goods is offering a 15% discount to customers who present our Modells RMHCDC Coupon and they are donating 5% of those proceeds to RMHCDC. We also joined forces with the local McDonald’s Hispanic Owners Association and Martin-Brower to support 150 local students at Latin American Youth Center by providing backpacks with supplies in celebration of the upcoming academic year!
