How generosity can change a life — including your own!
Like you, Dan knows the joy of helping others. But his story took some devastating twists and turns. Over a period of six months, his whole world was turned upside down. He suffered
an unthinkable amount of loss and grief.
"For all I know, this place saved my life."
Overwhelmed and not sure how to cope, Dan searched for direction. He turned to Ronald McDonald House and offered to volunteer. On his first day, a staff person asked him to hang a set of cabinets.
As Dan got to work, a little boy walked up to him. “Guess what!” the little boy said. “My white blood cell count is back to normal! I don’t have to have chemotherapy anymore!”
It was a powerful moment that touched Dan’s heart … and changed his perspective.
“I thought about what this child is dealing with,” Dan says. “It made my problems seem so petty, they almost popped like a bubble, right then.”
That was 17 years ago. Today, Dan still finds joy and fulfillment in helping families while they battle illness. His generous spirit — and yours — helps make the House a home for families when their children need medical care.
“I can’t give this place enough hours,” he says. “For all I know, it saved my life.”
It’s amazing, isn’t it? Giving feels great. May your heart be filled with gladness for all that you do, too!
