WHAT WE DO OUR STORIES
Please read through the guidelines below before signing up for a meal. Please note that all meals must be prepared and cooked in our Ronald McDonald House kitchen, or at a licensed food establishment. We cannot accept any meal that has been prepared, in part or in whole, in a personal kitchen.
To help us maintain a quiet and relaxed refuge for our families, please limit your group size to no more than 8 people, age 14 and above. When young people are involved, they must be chaperoned by enough adults to ensure behavior that is respectful of our residents.
Meal Options and Times:
During the week, your group can choose to prepare either lunch OR dinner. On the weekends, we schedule a breakfast/brunch group AND a dinner group. Your group may arrive at whatever time works best to have the meal prepared by the following times:
Need help planning? We’ve partnered with Giant Food to Feed The House with easy, nutritious recipes that are fun for you to make and a delight for our families to eat. Please label the food with any common allergens (nuts, dairy, etc). Remember, your food may be eaten at different times, so things that reheat well are great options for our residents.
While we can’t know exactly how many families will be in the House at any given time, please plan for 14-16 people. This ensures that no one goes hungry and all the food gets eaten. If you use a Feed The House recipe, serving size is already calculated for you!
Visit our Meal Group Calendar to select a location, include your organization name, contact name, email address, and phone number. After you sign up, we will be in direct contact with you to confirm your date and provide additional day-of details. Please reply to the confirmation email with the meal you plan to prepare or letting us know that you want to participate in the Feed The House program.
Partnership with Giant Food provides healthy meals for families and children facing serious illness. In an effort to promote health, wellness and giving back locally, Giant Food’s Registered Dietitian team created recipes volunteers can follow to offer families staying in the DC area houses a varied menu of healthy and delicious options.
