Welcome Home

Our DC House is welcoming families home!

Renovation and Expansion

Over the past few months, RMHCDC has expanded our Ronald McDonald House of Washington, DC from 26 guest rooms to 32 and renovated communal spaces including our kitchen, lounge, outdoor spaces, and play spaces – inviting children and their siblings to forget their illness and enjoy being children.

This project, along with the renovation of our Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia, will better position us to help the 33% of families on our wait lists we are not currently able to accommodate.

Impact of COVID-19

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, health remains our number one priority. As we reopen the DC House, our staff will be taking extra precautions to create an environment that adheres to social distancing guidelines, yet also feels comfortable and inviting for children and families.

You Can Help Welcome Families Home

In celebration of welcoming families home, and in support of prioritizing the health and safety of those we serve, we are asking for you to consider making a special one-time gift at any of the below levels.

  • Meal Donation ($750)
After a tough day at the hospital, a warm, delicious meal is just what the doctor ordered for our families. Help RMHCDC feed our house of up to 70!
  • COVID Cleaning ($500)
Help RMHCDC to keep our DC House clean and safe for our families and staff. This will cover the cost of a week of cleaning by a professional service – focusing on disinfecting surfaces to prevent the spread of COVID.
  • Sponsor A Night ($200)
Operating a guest room for one-night costs RMHCDC $200. Because we only ask for a suggested donation of $15 from families, this amount must be fully funded through philanthropic support.
  • “Welcome Home” Gift Basket ($100)
Help our families feel at home with a gift basket including snacks, toys, and a handwritten note upon arrival to the House.
  • Virtual Family Fun ($50)
Because our family rooms have not yet re-opened in Hospitals, RMHCDC staff are coming up with creative ways to entertain children & their families during their stays – virtually! Your support will help provide the staff and volunteer resources to make these virtual engagement opportunities fun and creative for our families.
  • Pantry Pile ($25)
After being closed for construction, RMHCDC will need to restock our pantry with shelf stable items. Help us keep families fed and energized during their stay.

Thank you for your consideration in joining us to welcome families home to the DC House. If you have any questions, please let feel free to contact Jordan Ritchie, Interim Major Gifts Officer, at jritchie@rmhcdc.org or (860) 208-5158.
