This mobile “doctor’s office on wheels” provides improved access to quality health care where children need it most – in their community.
Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Washington, DC is proud to work in collaboration with Medstar Georgetown University Hospital‘s Division of Community Pediatrics to administer the KMMC/RMCM.
About the KMMC/RMCM
The KMMC/RMCM serves federally designated health professional shortage areas (HPSAs) in Washington DC by offering comprehensive general pediatric health care services at several sites close to subsidized housing and at an emergency shelter.
The KMMC/RMCM visits these locations on a regular schedule, so the children they treat have a trusted medical home. Our KMMC/RMCM includes two patient examination rooms, a laboratory, and reception and medical records areas.
All children under the age of 21 are eligible for care, whether or not they have medical insurance. The KMMC/RMCM is unique in its holistic approach to providing health care, delivering not only comprehensive primary care but preventive care through education and advocacy.
Free health care services include:
- Primary care
- Newborn exams
- Well child visits
- Immunizations
- Dental screenings
- Ophthalmic exams
- Social service
- Mental health consultations.
