WHAT WE DO OUR STORIES
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have worked with our partner hospitals to adapt our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile programs to address the immediate needs of the communities we serve.
The Kids Mobile Medical Clinic/Ronald McDonald Care Mobile KMMC/RMCM, which provide free health care to children in DC Wards 4 to 8, has continued to provide health care services to patients who would otherwise have no access to healthcare without the KMMC/RMCM services.
The KMMC/RMCM serves federally designated health professional shortage areas (HPSAs) in Washington DC by offering comprehensive general pediatric health care services at several sites close to subsidized housing and at an emergency shelter. The KMMC/RMCM visits these locations on a regular schedule, so the children they treat have a trusted medical home. All children under the age of 21 are eligible for care, whether or not they have medical insurance. Free health care services include: primary care, newborn exams, well child visits, immunizations, dental screenings and ophthalmic exams, as well as social service and mental health consultations. The KIDS Mobile Medical Clinic/Ronald McDonald Care Mobile is unique in its holistic approach to providing health care, delivering not only comprehensive primary care but preventive care through education and advocacy.
