Volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia

Volunteers are the Heartbeat of the House.

On March 12, 2020, the Ronald McDonald House of Northern VA temporarily closed its doors to all non-essential staff and volunteers due to COVID-19. Volunteer opportunities are not available at our Northern Virginia location at this time. There are still ways we need your help to serve our families and children! Please contact Emma Ravdin at 202-424-2707 or ERavdin@rmhcdc.org for information.

Become a Weekly Volunteer:

Apply to Volunteer

Our Weekly Volunteers are the backbone of our Ronald McDonald House.  The caring and cheerful volunteers are the first voices families hear on the phone and the first smiling face they see at the door.  We depend on our volunteers to keep the House running and to help us provide a comfortable and supportive home-away-from-home for our guests. Weekly Volunteer positions are an on-going weekly commitment for a minimum of 6 months. Weekly volunteers work one 2-3 hour shift the same day each week and must be over 18 years old.

Other Group Opportunities:

It takes a village to keep a Ronald McDonald House up and running.  There are many on-site and off-site opportunities for your group! Preparing activity or snack grab n’ go bags is always a popular idea and a hit with the families!  Other ideas include helping with household chores and yard work, or even hosting a Wish List drive!  Find out more about how your group can help the families at Ronald McDonald House by checking out our Volunteer Opportunities for Groups.

Become a Guest Chef:

Sign up today with your friends, family, coworkers or social club and provide a warm meal for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
