30 Jan Welcome Three New Board Members 2026

Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Greater Washington, D.C. (RMHCDC) is pleased to announce the appointment of three distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors: Dr. Marc DiFazio, MD, Joanna Fazio, and Kari Swenson.

Each brings specialized expertise that will strengthen our ability to support families with seriously ill children throughout the region.

“We’re thrilled to welcome these outstanding leaders to the Board,” said Board Chair, Meera Pillai. “Each brings unique perspective and practical expertise that will help move our mission forward.”

“We’re honored to welcome Marc, Joanna, and Kari to our Board of Directors,” added Kymberly Wolff, President and CEO of RMHCDC. “Their leadership and commitment to children and families will strengthen our work as we serve families when they need us most.”

Marc DiFazio, MD 

Vice President, Ambulatory Services, Children’s National Hospital 

Dr. DiFazio is a board-certified neurologist in adult and pediatric care who leads Children’s National Access initiatives and is serving as the inaugural VP of Access.   He brings deep pediatric clinical experience combined with systems-level operations leadership, a longstanding service background including training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and valuable insight into how families experience care across visits, clinics, and outpatient settings. Dr. DiFazio served 28 years in the Army Medical Corps; he recently retired from service following his final assignment as Command Surgeon of USAR Legal Command.

Joanna Fazio 

Vice President, Pediatric Service Line, Inova L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital 

Joanna Fazio is a healthcare leader dedicated to strengthening pediatric care for children and families across Northern Virginia. At Inova’s L.J. Murphy Children’s Hospital, she leads pediatric strategy and operations with a focus on building programs that grow thoughtfully and serve families well.

Her work centers on improving how healthcare systems support families, both inside the hospital and in the community. She is especially committed to collaboration and partnership as essential parts of family-centered care.

Kari Swenson 

McDonald’s Owner-Operator + Co-leader, Horizon LLC 

Kari Swenson is a McDonald’s Owner-Operator and business leader with deep roots in the communities she serves. Through her work, she has built people-centered teams and invested in local initiatives that support families and create opportunity.

She brings a long-term, community-first perspective grounded in hands-on leadership, local engagement, and a genuine commitment to the organization’s mission and the families it supports.
