Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart

Extending care to families at the bedside of their hospitalized child.

Rolling Comfort

Our Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart program provides bedside amenities and comfort to parents and other caregivers while they remain with their hospitalized child.

Several times a day RMHCDC staff and volunteers make rounds on the units with the hospitality cart, well stocked with complimentary snacks, toiletries and reading material, as well as toys and crafts for patients and their family.

For parents and other caregivers who are reluctant to leave their critically ill or injured child even for just a moment, the bright and cheerful cart is a welcome sight. And the friendly face of the volunteer behind the cart reminds families that RMHCDC is there to provide comfort during a difficult time.

Where the Hospitality Cart visits

At Children’s National Medical Center, the cart visits patient rooms on the Hematology/Oncology unit.

At Inova Children’s Hospital, one cart goes around the Hematology/Oncology, the other makes stops on the NICU, PICU, Cardiac Care and Medical/Surgical units.

Urgent Daily Needs:

  • Individually wrapped snacks
  • Activity books and games for ages 3-21
  • Small toys and stress relievers

Sponsor or Donate to the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart

Individuals and businesses can help sponsor the carts with funding designated for the purchase of cart amenities.  In-kind donations of individually wrapped snacks and other items are also accepted and welcome.

Sponsors can be recognized on the carts as they round in the hospitals, as well as on this website and through social media. Most importantly, your generosity helps ensure that the Ronald McDonald Hospitality Cart is making the hospital stays of families a little easier with snacks, toys, and other items of convenience and comfort.
