The Best Medicine

Zoe’s Best Medicine: Her Brother’s Love!

Felix, 3, may be little, but he’s a big help. Especially to his sister, Zoe.

Zoe has osteogenesis imperfecta, which means her bones break easily. She can’t walk, and at just 5 years old, she’s already endured 200 bone fractures and 10 surgeries.

Felix helps Zoe whenever he can. When something blocks Zoe’s wheelchair, he moves it. When Zoe can’t reach something, Felix retrieves it.

You help Zoe, too. When her mom, Chelsea, found out Zoe needed a special procedure to join the bones in her neck, she searched for a doctor who could help. She finally found one, but he was on the other side of the country. On top of that, the procedure would take more than a month.

“We had to figure out how to stay there,” Chelsea says. “But the hospital said no family members under the age of 16 could stay. Having a 3-year-old, it seemed impossible.”

But it wasn’t. Because you give, they could stay right by the hospital at Ronald McDonald House® — and make sure Zoe never faced a single day alone.

Chelsea says keeping Zoe and Felix together through Zoe’s treatment has been so important. “I think she can heal better and be more comfortable with Felix here,” she says.

And while Felix comforts Zoe, you comfort Zoe’s family — through your generous support of Ronald McDonald House.

Thank you for helping families stay close!
