There are plenty of ways to get involved!
This National Volunteer Month, we’re celebrating everyone taking time to give back.
Without the support of our volunteers, we couldn’t do what we do.
House Volunteers
Volunteers are the Heartbeat of the House. Their smiling faces are the first thing families see at the door and we depend on volunteers to keep the House running and provide comfort and support for our guests.
Weekly positions are available for a minimum of 6 months. Weekly volunteers work one 2-3 hour shift the same day each week and must be over 18 years old. Apply to volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House of Washington, DC or the Ronald McDonald House of Northern Virginia.
Family Room Volunteers
We are currently recruiting volunteers to work a weekly shift in the Ronald McDonald Family Room at CNMC or the Ronald McDonald Family Room at Inova. Volunteers greet and assist families, take the Hospitality a la Cart with amenities out on the floor, restock the room, and help with light housekeeping. Shifts are available seven days a week, and a minimum commitment of two shifts a month is required.
Guest Chefs
After a long day at the hospital, there is nothing better for our families than to walk into Ronald McDonald House and find a freshly made meal. Our Guest Chef Program invites groups of volunteers to plan a menu, purchase the ingredients, and prepare a meal at our Houses. You can volunteer with your friends, family, coworkers, or social club and provide a warm meal for the families staying at Ronald McDonald House.
Volunteer Groups
There are many other group opportunities available, including preparing grab n’ go bags with activities or snacks, helping with household chores and yard work, or even hosting a Wish List drive. Learn more here.
Red Shoe 5k Volunteers
The 8th Annual Red Shoe 5k Run and Walk is coming up on May 20 and we still need volunteers! There are several shifts available for morning setup, course marshaling, and children’s activities. Each volunteer will receive a volunteer t-shirt for their participation and signed hours, if needed. Learn more and register here.
